SOUTH BEND - Maria Ellenberger, 88, of Fredericksburg, VA,
died Tuesday, May 29, in her home. She was a member of Redeemer
Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg and was a former member of Holy
Trinity Lutheran Church, South Bend. While living in South Bend
Mrs. Ellenberger had worked for the former First Bank and Trust
Company as an elevator operator. Survivors include her husband of
70 years, Henry Ellenberger, who retired from the South Bend
Public Library in 1977; two daughters, Christina Jackson
of Glendale, AZ, and Maria Way of Fredericksburg; three
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m.
today, June 1, in Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, with
Pastor Robert Koehler officiating. The family will receive
friends in the funeral home one hour prior to services. A
graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, June 4, at
Highland Cemetery, with the Rev. Walter Stitt officiating. Palmer
Funeral Home, River Park, is in charge of local arrangements.
