SOUTH BEND - Arthur Donald Emerick, 86, passed away in his
home at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2007. Preceding him
in death were his parents, Elsie and Dorl Emerick; six sisters,
Evadean Jester, Gladys Knapp, Virginia Wheeler,
Valora Myers, Ruth Batten and Audrey Bailey;
and four brothers, Ray, Roy, Ernie and Richard Emerick; and a
granddaughter, Caren Emerick.
Sixty-four years ago, on July 26, 1943,
Arthur married Eunice Kaniewski, who survives. Other
survivors include two sons and a daughter, Ronald (Karen) Emerick
of Plymouth, IN, Tom (Marilyn) Emerick of Granger, IN and Connie
(Michael) Czajkowski of Bremen, IN; two brothers, Eugene
Emerick of Arizona and Norman Lee Emerick of South Bend; eight
grandchildren, to whom he was lovingly known as
"Poppo", Brian, Jerry, Todd, Tye, Tim and Tara Emerick,
Tami Kobb and Michael Czajkowski; five
great-grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Lucky. Arthur was a
World War II Veteran serving with the Navy in the Pacific. He
retired from the Bendix Corp. in 1975 after 35 years of service.
Respecting his wishes, there will be no
services or visitation. The McGann Hay, Morning Star Funeral Home
has been entrusted with arrangements.
