SOUTH BEND - Virginia M. Engle, 86, of South Bend, passed
away at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2008, in the Saint
Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Virginia was born on
May 2, 1921, in South Bend, to the late Elmer and Beryl (Dickey)
Sossoman.
On November 25, 1945, she married Edward S.
Engle, who passed away on June 6, 1998. She was also preceded in
death by one brother, Elmer Sossoman, and one sister, Bertha Michele.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Engle of South Bend and
Barbara (John) Baker of Muncie, IN; and one son, Dale
(Mary Ann) Engle of Land O' Lakes, FL; and three sisters, Irene Abbott
of South Bend, Doris Paturalski and Mary (George)
Paturalski, both of Niles, MI. Virginia was a graduate of
Washington-Clay High School, class of 1940. She worked for J.C.
Penney in South Bend for 18 years before retiring in 1983.
There will be no visitation. Private services will be held with burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, is handling arrangements.
