Richard C. Erhardt Sr.

MISHAWAKA - Richard C. Erhardt Sr., 71, of Lake Bluff, Ill., formerly of Mishawaka, died Saturday in his home of natural causes. Mr. Erhardt retired from Elkhart Community School Corp. as a custodian. He was born July 16, 1923, in South Bend. In 1969, in Mishawaka, he married Mary Butt. She died in 1988. He is survived by eight daughters, Carole Sandner of Lake Bluff, Marie Holes and Tina Hertel, both of Mishawaka, Deborah Hickey and Ruth Erhardt, both of Cincinnati, Sandra Johnson of South Bend, Cynthia Jones of Niles, and Rosemarie Haage-Gages of Lake, Ill.; four sons, Roger, George and John, all of Mishawaka, and Richard Jr. of Lake Bluff; 40 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eloise Taberski of South Bend. A daughter, Pamela Erhardt, preceded him in death. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, South Bend.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday until the services in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
