Alexander E. Evanovich

SOUTH BEND - Alexander E. Evanovich, 88, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Friday, April 30, 2010, in Regency Place. He was born on May 28, 1921, in South Bend, to Rade and Mary (Yablanovska) Evanovich. Alex retired from Torrington and was a World War II Navy veteran and a Pearl Harbor survivor. On May 10, 1947, in South Bend, he married the former Stella Morris, who died on April 27, 2006. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Anna Slater and Lucille Brock, and two brothers, Peter Evanovich and Michael Evanovich. Surviving are a daughter, Donna (Robert) Legus of Niles; a son, Donald (Vicki Cadieux) Evanovich of South Bend; five grandchildren, Michelle Napier, Christina Williams, Amy Evanovich, Amber Martin and Gena Cadieux; two great-grandchildren, Cierra and Aaron; and a great-great-grandchild, Abby; and a sister, Helene Chick of South Bend. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Entombment will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends may call one hour prior to services in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
