MISHAWAKA -- June R. Evans, 88, of Fountainview Place, died Sunday in the nursing home. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra A. Rockwell of Granger; two sons, Richard F. of Mishawaka and Samuel L. of Elkhart; a stepson, Richard E. of Bradenton, Fla.; and two sisters, Emma Kreiter of Mishawaka and Louise Grisamer of Southbury, Conn. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Palmer Funeral

Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Obituary: June R. Evans (Feb. 2, 1916 -- Feb. 29, 2004).

 

June R. Evans, 88, residing on Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 12:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, in Fountainview Place, Mishawaka.

 

Mrs. Evans was born on Feb. 2, 1916, in St. Joseph County, Ind., to Bert and Ellen E. (DeLong) Houck. On Nov. 2, 1940, in South Bend, she married Samuel H. Evans, who preceded her in death on July 4, 1987.

 

Mrs. Evans is survived by one daughter, Sandra A. (Dennis) Rockwell of Granger, Ind.; two sons, Richard F. (Carol) Evans of Mishawaka and Samuel L. Evans of Elkhart, Ind.; one stepson, Richard E. (Dorothy) Evans of Bradenton, Fla.; five grandchildren, Lisa Evans, Richard Rockwell, Laurie Mehrbrodt, Tina Paul and Rick Evans; four great-grandchildren, Abigail Evans, Tony Rockwell, Samantha Rockwell and Kaitlin Paul; and by two sisters, Emma Kreiter of Mishawaka and Louise Grisamer of Southbury, Conn.

 

She was preceded in death by a stepson, William J. Evans in 2002; two sisters, Edith Woehl and Eva Myers; and by three brothers, Charles, Virgil and George Houck.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 2, and one hour prior to services Wednesday in the funeral home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
