Richard O. Evans

May 17, 1939 - April 16, 2010
SOUTH BEND - Richard "Dick" Oliver Evans of Bradenton, FL, born May 17, 1939, in South Bend, IN, put up a grand fight against lung cancer for over a year until he had finally had enough and decided to rest on April 16, 2010. He had worked his entire life wearing many different hats and was very deserving of a break. He had served as son, brother, uncle, cousin, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend, employer and mentor. Whatever he did, he did to the best of his ability, and always expected nothing less from others. Missing him are his wife of 52 years, Aurelia (Rill) Evans; his daughter, Rillann Evans; her two daughters, Jennifer Martin and Gretchen Tuxhorn; and their children, Madison and Camron, and his daughter, Sherry Evasick, her husband, Michael, and three children, Meredith, Aaron and Carter. Richard was the 11th of 12 children, two with us who will also miss him, Edward Evans and Lillian Armstrong, along with countless nieces, nephews and friends. Dick loved his family immensely and left them with strength and many lessons learned. His passing has created a void, but there will be no emptiness as his love will live on in all who knew him. We trust that those who had preceded him in death, especially his two dear nephews, Raymond Nick and Bob Lee, as well as his parents, siblings, and other relatives and friends, welcomed him with a warm embrace. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
