Mrs. Peter Ewald: (South Bend Tribune 8/1/1969)


Mrs. Lillian Ewald, 68, of 318 S. Chestnut St., died at 1:45 a.m. today in St. Joseph’s Hospital after an extended illness. She was born on Feb. 10, 1901, in South Bend and had lived here all her life. As Lillian Kowalewski, she was married on Jan. 23, 1921, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church to Peter Ewald, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Sylvester of Granger, Joseph and Donald, both of South Bend, a daughter, Mrs. Henrietta Garner of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren, a brother Vincent Kowalewski of North Liberty, and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Nadolny and Mrs. Myrtle Maciejewski, both of South Bend. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Rev. John Jakubielski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Mrs. Ewald was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 357. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
