Virgil N. Fairchild

     Virgil N. Fairchild, 82, formerly of 3192  Winchester St. Apt 4,
Mishawaka, died at 5:28 p.m. Tuesday in the Cardinal  Nursing Home after a long
illness. He was born in South Bend on May 9, 1891, and had lived here most of his
life. He married Flossie Fern Towne in South Bend on Dec. 25, 1912. She
survives, along with a son, Ronald J. of South Bend; a daughter, Mrs. Leroy Newton
of Mishawaka, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
     Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel,
Mishawaka, where service will be held at 10:40 a.m.  Thursday. Rev. Worthy Rowe,
pastor and Rev. David Rowe, assistant pastor, of the Apostolic Temple, will
officiate and burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Mr. Fairchild
retired from the Olive Corp. in 1959 after 25 years of employment. He was an
officer of the Oliver Union for many years, and also was treasurer for many
years of the former Midway Tabernacle and the First Christian Apostolic
