Russell E. Falan

March 20, 1917 - June 11, 1999

Russell E. Falan, 82, residing on Clara Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 2:10 a.m. on Friday, June 11, in Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient since May 30. Mr. Falan was born on March 20, 1917, in Cadillac, Mich., and had lived in South Bend since 1950, coming from Michigan.

 

On Sept. 25, 1943, in Greensboro, N.C., he married Dorothy E. George. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dorothy; a daughter, Pam Pennington of South Bend; and by a granddaughter, Adrian Fuentes, and a great-grandson, Enrique Fuentes, both of South Bend.

 

Mr. Falan was the founder and former owner and operator of Great Lakes Heating and Air Conditioning Service, which he owned for 23 years. He was an Air Force veteran, having served during World War II; a member of Council Oak Lodge #745 Free and Accepted Masons; and the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #20.

 

Memorial services for Mr. Falan will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15, in the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Rev. Ed Erskin will officiate. The family will receive friends from one hour prior to memorial services on Tuesday at the funeral home.
