Ann A. Farkas (January 19, 1917 - March 23, 2002).

Ann A. Farkas, 85, of South Bend, Ind., passed away at 5:25 p.m., Saturday, March 23, 2002 in Healthwin Specialized Care Facility. Mrs. Farkas was born on January 19, 1917 in South Bend and was a lifelong resident. On June 10, 1939, in Our Lady of Hungary Church, as Ann A. Szalay, she married Julius N. Farkas, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Julie Ann (Glenn) Rodbarry of Roselle, Ill., Daniel P. (Joyce) Farkas of Punta Gorda, Fla., Fredrick (Cynthia) Farkas of Rolling Meadow, Ill., seven grandchildren, Paul Farkas, Mark Farkas, Alison (Brian) Whisenhunt, David Farkas, Joseph Farkas, Taylor Rodbarry, Lea Rodbarry, her sister, Ethel Gotowka of South Bend, Ind., and her two brothers, Paul (Christine) Szalay of South Bend, Ind., and Charles (Sylvia) Szalay of Livonia, Mich. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 26, 2002 in Corpus Christi Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a combined Parish and Altar Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m., and from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Tuesday in Corpus Christi Church. Mrs. Farkas was a Charter Member of Corpus Christi Parish and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society. She loved the specialized care and family atmosphere provided by the nurses, nurses aides, and management of the Healthwin Care Facility. They made her feel part of their family. Memorial contributions may be made to Healthwin Specialized Care Facility or Hospice of St. Joseph County.
