Robert Farkas (Nov. 8, 1935 -- April 13, 2007 )

EDWARDSBURG -- Robert Farkas, 71, of Edwardsburg, MI, died 3:05 p.m. April 13, 2007, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend.

He was born November 8, 1935, in Fall River, MA, to Katherine and Charles. He married Shirley King on June 16, 1956, in Dennison, OH.

Shirley survives in Edwardsburg, along with three sons, Tim (Vicki) Farkas of Edwardsburg, Rich (Myra) Farkas of Edwardsburg, and Ed (Sharon) Farkas of Cassopolis; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and his stepfather, Joe.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine; granddaughter, Holly Dee Farkas; and great-grandchildren Robert and Paul Garcia.

Mr. Farkas was retired from the United States Air Force, of which he served two tours in Vietnam in 1966 and 1971. He retired in 1974. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in Cassopolis, Vietnam Veterans of Michiana, and a member of the American Legion in Edwardsburg.

He enjoyed going to the movies and traveling with his wife, and attending various Veteran's meetings and gatherings across the country. He was also an avid Notre Dame Women's Basketball fan. He attended every home game, and even some away games.

Cremation will take place. A memorial service will be held Tuesday April 17 in Hope Untied Methodist Church in Edwardsburg from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Visitation with the family will start one hour prior.
