SOUTH BEND - Dorothy Farley, 83, of Corby Boulevard, died Friday at Memorial Hospital after an illness. Mrs. Farley was a retired self-employed grocer, owning and operating Handy Andy Grocery in Whiting, Ind., and a neighborhood grocery in Hobart, Ind., for many years.
She was born Oct. 25, 1911, in Alliance, Ohio, and came to South Bend from Portage. She married Clyde W. Farley, who died in 1953. Surviving are two daughters, Joann Olson of Norman, Ind., and Carrol Cupdy of Portage; two sons, Robert of South Bend and Roger Farley, address unknown; and four grandchildren. She was a member of Portage First Church of the Nazarene.
Services will be at a later date. Burial will be in McCool Cemetery, Portage. Engle Funeral Home, Portage, is in charge of arrangements.
