Dr. James C. Felder

Nov. 13, 1927 - June 23, 2007

 


SOUTH BEND - Dr. James C. Felder, 79, of South Bend, passed away Saturday, June 23 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

 

He was born on November 13, 1927, in Fulton County to the late Carl and Ruth (Houston) Felder. On April 12, 1952, he married Dorathea Mae Zgodzinski in Grace Methodist Church, South Bend. Dr. Felder graduated from Indiana University in 1951 and graduated from IUPUI in 1959 with a DDS. He practiced family dentistry for 45 years in South Bend upon his retiring in 2002. Dr. Felder had a great compassion and cared for is patients. Dr. Felder served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Dental Association and a long time member of the American Legion Post #297 in New Carlisle.

 

Dr. Felder is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorathea Felder; his three daughters, JoLynn Scopelitis and her husband, Michael, of South Bend, Doreen Ruth Sculati and her husband, Michael, of South Bend and Janine Dawn Felder-Kahn and her husband, Matthew, of South Bend; four grandchildren; Sara, Jim, Ellen, and Lillian; and a great-granddaughter, Victoria Ann. Dr. Felder will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was a thoughtful, caring and compassionate man who loved his family very much. He was not only seen as a dentist by his family, but was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

 

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 26 in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from noon until time of service. He closed His arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me." In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away. Our hearts were almost broken. You fought so hard to stay. But when we saw you sleeping so peacefully, free from pain, We would not wish you back to Suffer that again. So treasure him, Lord, in your garden of rest. For here on earth he was one of the best.
