Edwin B. Ferguson

MISHAWAKA - Edwin B. Ferguson, 81, of Mishawaka, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 5, 2007, in his home. Ed was born December 11, 1925, in Pontotoc, Texas, a son of the late Benjamin and Nancy (Bush) Ferguson. He grew up in Texas and following graduation from high school he entered the service. Ed served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1946.

 

He then moved to South Bend where he met his future wife, Delphine Tobolski, while working at Oliver Corporation. They were married on September 18, 1948, and lived in South Bend until settling in Mishawaka in 1954. Ed also worked for Shippers Dispatch and retired in 1990 from Yellow Freight. At one time he was a member of the Transportation Club. The center of Ed's life was his family. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and bowling.

 

Ed's surviving family includes his wife of over 58 years, Delphine of Mishawaka; two sons, Dennis (Diana) Ferguson of Mishawaka and Thomas Ferguson of Mishawaka; his much beloved granddaughter, Mary Ferguson of Mishawaka; and a brother, William David (Ruth) Ferguson of Texas. Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Sydney Aaron Cade.

 

Friends and family may call today (Wednesday) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. Third St., Mishawaka. Services will be held in the funeral home Thursday at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka. Envelopes are available in the funeral home.
