John L. Ferguson Sr.

John L. Ferguson Sr., 81, who lived with his daughter, Pamela Colen on Manchester Drive, Mishawaka, Indiana, passed to his rest about 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in his daughter's home.

John was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Cook County, Ill., the son of James W. and Winifred (Oedzes) Ferguson. He was a retired plumber and pipefitter having worked for GMAC in Three Rivers, and before that he worked for Plumber and Pipefitters Local 172, South Bend.

 

John was married April 27, 1946, in Chicago, to Patricia Ann Field, who passed away on Dec. 19, 1995. He is survived by his children, Joanne P. Ferguson of Mishawaka and Pamela D. (David) Colen of Mishawaka, John L. (Joan) Ferguson Jr. of Sandy, Ore., and Raymond J. (Melissa) Ferguson of Bristol, Ind. There are 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Lillian Venning of Lansing, MI; and one brother, Roger of Sarasota, Fla. There is a brother, James, and one great-grandchild who are deceased.

John and his wife moved to the Michiana area in 1961, and they lived 22 years of that time in Edwardsburg where all the children attended school.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main (US-12) in Edwardsburg. The service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Chapel, 53494 Fir Road, Mishawaka. Officiating will be Pastor Bob Moore, assisted by Pastor Roger B. Feiler. Burial will be at Reams & Norton Cemetery on Cemetery Street, east of M-62, Cassopolis. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army and there will be a flag folding ceremony and taps at the graveside.
