LaVirgne H. Ferguson

LaVirgne H. Ferguson, 69, of Eastbrook Drive, South Bend, Ind., died after an extended illness at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend. She was born on March 16, 1928, in Annaheim, Calif., to Claude and Hedwig (Granet) Larivey, who both preceded her in death.

 

On Aug. 14, 1928, in Chicago, Ill., as LaVirgne Larivey, she married William Ferguson, who survives. She is also survived by four daughters, Pamela Fioravanti of Bowling Green, Ohio, Julynne Freeland of Granger, Ind., Kimberly St. Clair of Grovertown, Ind., and Laurel Plew of South Bend; a son, Evan Ferguson of Mishawaka, Ind.; a foster son, Dan LaDuke of Ocala, Fla.; and by 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

LaVirgne retired from Robertsons Department Store after 18 years of service, where she was a cosmetologist. She was a member of Memorial Presbyterian Church where she had served as a trustee. She was an active member of the SPIRITUAL FELLOWSHIP, and was an active member and former treasurer of Pinhook Area Concerned Residents.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Memorial Presbyterian Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South Bend. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1836 Portage Avenue, South Bend, IN 46616. LaVirgne H. Ferguson touched many lives and will be sadly missed.
