Gaetano Luigi Giuseppe Fermi

Mishawaka - Gaetano Fermi, 77, of 502 W. 12th St., was dead on arrival at 7:10 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph Hospital, where he was taken by the city ambulance, after becoming suddenly ill at his summer home at 4042 Cottage Ave.

 

He was born Feb. 21, 1895 in Pazencia, Italy, and came to Mishawaka in 1922 from Italy.

 

He married Carmela Vernasco on Sept. 13, 1924, in St. Bavo’s Church. She died in 1956.

 

Surviving are two sons, Rudy and Thomas, both of South Bend; two brothers and one sister, all of Italy, and six grandchildren.

 

Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, where arrangements are being completed. He was a member of St. Bavo’s Church and the De Amicis Club, and retired in 1960 after 25 years of employment at Uniroyal, Inc.
