Willis R. Ferris (Jan. 24, 1929 -- April 24, 2006)

Willis R. Ferris passed away at home of natural causes on April 24, 2006.

He was born in South Bend on January 24, 1929, as the son of the late George E. and Mattie (Simpson) Ferris, and was a life-long resident of South Bend and Mishawaka. He was the youngest of 13 children.

Seven brothers and five sisters preceded him in death. A grandson, Benjamin G. Stewart, of Boise, Idaho, also preceded him in death.

After serving in the United States Army, Willis spent his working years as a truck driver, and drove for several local companies as a Teamsters Truck Driver. He enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his two children, Sheryl K. (Roger) Stewart of Boise, Idaho, and Daniel R. Ferris of Phoenix, AZ; his two grandchildren, Amanda D. Stewart of Boise, Idaho, and Angela L. Ferris of Phoenix, AZ, and one great-grandchild, MacKenzie L. Ferris-Tinker, of Phoenix, AZ.

Viewing will be Saturday, April 29, 2006, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, funeral services will immediately follow at 4 p.m., with Rev. Gary Scott, of First United Methodist Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Willis can be made to the charity of one's choice.
