SOUTH BEND - Robert L. Fischer, 79, of Pleasant Street, died at 12:20 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, of natural causes. Mr. Fischer was employed as an engineer for 25 years at South Bend Community School Corp., retiring in 1979. He was born Nov. 28, 1914, in Mishawaka.
On July 3, 1937, in Mishawaka, he married Helen North. She died March 25, 1980. Surviving are three sons, Robert L. Jr. of St. Joseph, James of Orlando, Fla., and William of Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was a member of River Park United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Fair Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the church youth fund.
