Allen Elwood Fisher

Allen Elwood Fisher, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Sunday night, April 23, in Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna of 39 years; children, Michael, Lanny, Missy (Jon) and Lindy; his grandkids, Haven, Austin, Olivia and Alea; siblings, Rolland Fisher, Phyllis Martin, Nancy Nelson (Vaniel), Adolph Fisher (Judy) and Carolyn Reiter (Arden). He was preceded in death by his son, William Landon; his father, Rolland; his mother, Mildred; sisters, Edna Nichols and Margaret Rider; and by a brother, Lanny Fisher.

 

For many years Allen was involved within the community by serving on the Buchanan Park Board, was president of Buchanan Men's Softball League, constructing parks in the City of Buchanan, where he has a softball field named after him. Allen was also the district commissioner for The Amateur Softball Association. In January 2000, to honor him for all of his achievements and dedications, The Michigan Amateur Softball Association inducted him into their Hall of Fame. In addition, Allen was an avid softball player and umpire, and managed the 2002 National Softball Association Major World Series Champions.

 

The viewing will be in Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan, on Thursday, April 27, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The memorial services will be at the Buchanan Softball Complex at McCoy Creek Recreation Park on Saturday, April 29, at 2 p.m. Dinner will follow at the American Legion at 3:30 p.m. where friends and family are welcomed to attend. The family is asking for donations in lieu of flowers to be made to the Buchanan Park Board.
