Nancy A. Fisher, 77, of Carmel, Ind., passed away at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, in her retirement home. She was born on Dec. 9, 1919, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Paul and Mary (Wilson) Abbott, Sr. She lived in the South Bend, Ind., area for many years.

On May 1, 1954, she married Leighton E. Fisher, who preceded her in death in 1987. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Sue Baughman of South Bend; a son, Mark Fisher of Noblesville, Ind.; and a granddaughter, Michelle Fisher. A brother, Paul Abbott, Jr., also preceded her in death. Mrs. Fisher worked for many years as secretary at the Zion United Church of Christ, and prior to that worked at the South Bend Supply Company.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery. Mrs. Fisher was an avid cat lover and friends who wish may make a memorial contribution in her memory to the South Bend Pet Refuge.
