Sister M. Puritas CSC, 85, of St. Mary’s Convent, died Wednesday morning in the convent. She was born on Jan. 30, 1887 in Blairsville, Pa. as Martina Agnes Fisher, and entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross on Apr. 2, 1909, and made her profession of vows Aug. 15, 1911. She taught at Assumption School from 1914 to 1916 and at St. Patrick’s School from 1929 to 1931. She also taught in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, Texas, California, New York, New Jersey and Illinois. She has resided at St. Mary’s Convent since 1964.

 

Friends may call today in the convent parlors, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday if Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s.
