Manning C. Fish

SOUTH BEND - Manning C. Fish, 65, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2008, in his brother's home surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 27, 1943, in South Bend, IN, to William and Margaret Fish. Mr. Fish is survived by two brothers, William Fish of Mishawaka, IN, and Randy (Diana) Fish of South Bend, IN; two aunts, Florence Clish of California and Dorothy Whippo of Mishawaka, IN. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Fish in 1968, and by his parents.

 

Mr. Fish was a 1961 Riley High School graduate. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 to 1983. Mr. Fish retired as a staff sergeant after 20 years. He served in Vietnam, receiving a Purple Heart for wounds he received in combat on May 19, 1968. He also received a Vietnam Service Medal with three stars and a Combat Action Ribbon. Mr. Fish retired as a school bus driver from Capo Valley Unified School District in San Juan Capistrano, CA, in 2006 after 20 years. He returned to South Bend in March 2008. The family would like to thank all his friends in California. They would also like to thank the staff and nurses at Hospice of St. Joseph County for the wonderful care.

 

There will be no services or visitation. Contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. The Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, is assisting the family.
