Joseph R. Fitt, 57, of Orchard
Heights Drive, South Bend, Ind., formerly of Munster, Ind.,
passed away after a brief illness on Monday, July 6, in his home.
Mr. Fitt was born on July 27, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., and had
lived in the Munster area most of his life until moving to South
Bend one year ago. On May 12, 1962, in Munster, he married Joan
L. Lewis, who survives. He is also survived by two
daughters, Lisa (Mark) Heller of South Bend and Kathy
(Tom) Morrison of St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Jim (Jennifer)
Fitt of Highland, Ind.; three grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and
Christopher Heller, all of South Bend, and a fourth grandchild
expected soon; his mother, Marie Ehmke of South Bend; and
by a brother, Brother Paul Fitt, O.S.B., Collegeville, Minn. Mr.
Fitt was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 1827 E. Ireland Road, where a vigil service will be held at 4 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to services in the funeral home on Thursday. Services will be at noon on Thursday at St. Jude Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Douglas T.
