MISHAWAKA - Ervin J. Fiwek, 75, of Berkley Circle, died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph Hospital after an illness. Mr. Fiwek retired in 1975 as a precision grinder at Bendix Corp. after 30 years of service. He was born Aug. 29, 1918, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

 

On Aug. 24, 1940, in South Bend, he married Margaret VanAutrave. She died Dec. 15, 1976. On April 1, 1978, in South Bend, he married Louise Tyler. She survives with four sons, Donald of South Bend, Michael of Indianapolis, Richard of Fort Wayne and Joseph of Elkhart; a stepdaughter, Mary Lou Szarwark of Elkhart; two stepsons, Robert VanDeVeire of Canton, Mich., and Charles VanDeVeire of South Bend; 15 grandchildren; and two sisters, Winifred Hunter of Warsaw and Goldie Hoke of South Bend.

 

He was a member of St. Bavo's Catholic Church, American Legion Pulaski Post 357 and Moose Lodge 58, South Bend. He was a veteran of World War II.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in Hahn Funeral Home, where a prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. conducted by Moose Lodge 58 and a parish wake will be at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
