Sister M. Josephita Flannery CSC, 84, of Saint Mary’s Convent, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday in the convent. She was born Jan. 27, 1906 in Harvard, Ill. as Margaret G. Flannery. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Mary’s, coming from Harvard.; was received as a novice on Aug. 15, 1926; and professed her vows on Aug. 15, 1928. She taught at elementary and high school levels in Washington DC; New York City; San Mateo and Fresno, Calif.; Illinois; and from 1951 to 1953 at St. Joseph Academy in South Bend; and from 1853 to 1970 at St. Joseph High School in South Bend. She is survived by several cousins including Rev. T.M. Sheilds SJ, of Stole, Ohio.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto, with burial following in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, both at St. Mary’s. Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the convent where a wake will be at 7 p.m.
