Services for Sister Mary Amalia CSC, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, who died Thursday in Saint Mary’s Convent, were held today in the Church of Our Lady of Loretto. Burial will be at 11:30 Saturday in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery on the campus. Friends may call at the convent parlor untill 8 p.m. today and on Saturday until the hour of the burial.

 

Born Margaret Mary Flauth in Oldemburg, Germany, in 1879, she came to the United States as a child and received her early education in Kentucky. She entered the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1902, receiving the habit that same year. She made her profession of vows in 1904. During her community life she was assigned as a nurse to St. John’s Hospital in Anderson, Ind., and Our Saviour’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill. She was assigned to the student infirmary at the University of Notre Dame for several years before her retirement at St. Mary’s Convent.
