Willie L. Floyd Sr.

MISHAWAKA - Willie L. Floyd Sr., age 80, of Mishawaka, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 27, 2009, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center. Willie was born August 5, 1929, to John and Nannie (Roberts) Floyd in Guntown, Mississippi. On October 11, 1952, Willie was united in marriage to Ms. Nancy Bennett in Niles, Michigan. His wife Nancy of Mishawaka survives, along with their children, Willie (Verna) Floyd Jr. of Mishawaka, Deborah (David) Ryll of Mishawaka, Pamela S. (Von) Grafton of Elkhart, Indiana, and Michele R. (Chris) Montague of Granger, Indiana. Also surviving are one sister, Mary Dovie Floyd of Guntown, Mississippi, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Wednesday, December 30, 2009, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, December 31, 2009, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Willie was employed for 31 years by the Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka in the Coated Fabrics division. He also was a member of the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Posse working at the South Bend Motor Speedway for many years. Mr. Floyd also was a volunteer fireman with Penn Township North Fire Department. He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the Victory Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Dowagiac, and more recently a member of the Zion House of Prayer and Healing P.C.O.G.
