Ellen Flynn

1860 – Jul 6, 1895

Niles Weekly Mirror, July 10, 1895

After years of helplessness and at times of most painful invalidism, Mrs. Ellen Flynn passed to her long desired rest between the hours of 5 and 6 o’clock, Saturday evening. She was the beloved mother of most tend and devoted children, who, during her long illness, repaid her care of their earlier childhood by constant loving service.

Her neighbors and long time friends, we mourn with the family in their bereavement of a presence whose gentleness and wonderful patience during her long affliction marked her saint-like character and proved the constant fellowship of that of that Divine Spirit which the King of sufferers promised to send his earthly disciples.

We would point them to the same source of strength and comfort in their deep sorrow, and while offering the best of our poor human sympathy, we use the words of another Friend, who looking down upon her still form and peaceful face, exclaimed, “Oh! What a glorious exchange.”

Mrs. Flynn was born in County Cork, Ireland, 65 years ago and has been a resident of our city 42 years.

The funeral services will be held at St. Mary’s church, Tuesday morning at 8 o’clock. The body will be interred in Notre Dame cemetery.

Editor Note: Ellen Flynn was the mother of Sarah G Flynn who married Louis A. Hickey, and Catherine Bridget Flynn who married William L. Turnock.
