Evelyn J. Foos

Jan. 31, 1917-Dec. 10, 2005

Evelyn Jean Foos, 88, of S. 36th Street in South Bend, passed away December 10, 2005, in Regency Place Nursing Home in South Bend of natural causes. Mrs. Foos was born January 31, 1917, to Noble and Ora Rhoads in Goshen, Indiana. In 1934, the former Ms. Rhoads married George Foos in Goshen, Indiana. George preceded her in death, passing away in 1965.

Surviving are her sons, Jack (Gloria) Foos of Mishawaka, James (Carole) Foos of Granger, and Harold (LaVerne) Foos of Granger; along with four granddaughters, Debra (Brad) Davis of Plainfield, IN, Cathy Foos of Granger, Kim (Larry) Biddle of Osceola, and Tanya Ryan of Mishawaka. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Larry, Amy, Becky, Kyle, and Heather; and two great-great-grandchildren, Jordan and Tyson. Evelyn was preceded in death also by a stepbrother, Morris Rhoads.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005, in Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the 2 p.m. service on Wednesday, December 14, 2005, in Chapel Hill. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Evelyn was a member of Harris Prairie Church of Christ, the Eagles Lodge in Mishawaka and the VFW Post #360 Ladies Auxiliary. She was employed for many years as a seamstress for Gerber Manufacturing in Mishawaka, until the factory closed. Evelyn was also employed by Medco Nursing Home. Donations may be given in her name to the Humane Society.
