Chester M. Forycki: (South Bend Tribune 4/20/2005)

June 23, 1917 – April 18, 2005 Chester M. Forycki, 87, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away Monday, April 18, 2005, at Hospice House in South Bend. Chester was born on June 23, 1917, in South Bend, to Anthony and Ursula (Dominska) Forycki. He retired as a supervisor from AM General after 23 years of service. On August 8, 1942, Chester married Esther Poznanski, who survives. Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Linda Kay (Mark) Ruckert of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren, Scott A. (Sandy) Ruckert of Osceola, Indiana, Brian M. Ruckert of South Bend and Cindy A. Ruckert of Mishawaka, Indiana; a half brother, Raymond (Lorraine) Forycki of Omaha, Nebraska; and a sister-in-law, Delores Rybak of South Bend. A half sister, Irene Forycki, and two stepbrothers, John and Jerry Piecuch, all preceded him in death. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 PM Thursday, April 21, 2005, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 3 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, April 22, 2005, in St. Matthew Cathedral, South Bend, Indiana, with Rev. John Cramer officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, with military honors. Scott Ruckert, firefighter, Brian Ruckert, firefighter, Chris Baker, firefighter, Jason Schuelke, firefighter, Steve Pritz and Eric Hestad are honored to be pallbearers. Mr. Forycki was a member of St. Matthew Cathedral, the Holy Name Society of St. Matthew, South Bend Moose Lodge, #58, a life member V.F.W. Post 360, life member D.A.V. Chapter #39, AM General Management Club, and was an AARP member. He was a World War II Army veteran, where he received a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Star, First Oak Leaf Cluster to the Purple Heart Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with three bronze service stars, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and an Expert Infantryman Badge.
