Charlotte Foster

June 18, 1905 - July 14, 1996

Charlotte Foster, 91, was in her home on Sunnymede Street in South Bend, Ind., when she died quietly early Sunday afternoon, July 14. Miss Foster was born in South Bend, Ind., on June 18, 1905.

Vested with an undergraduate degree from St. Mary's College and a Master's degree in Education from the University of Iowa, she taught at State Teacher's College in Emporia, Kansas and at Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind. Also, for many years she instructed local children at Thomas Jefferson Grade School in South Bend. Included among Miss Foster's civic affiliations are her membership in the American Association of University Women, the South Bend St. Mary's Club, the Christ Child Society and Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority.

 

Surviving Miss Foster are her three nieces; Mrs. Joan F. Brabec of Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Elizabeth Hughes of Fullerton, Calif., and Mrs. Charles Stephens of Tumut, N.S.W., Australia; along with their families.

 

Hickey Funeral Home of East Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, Ind., is making the arrangements for the funeral. The viewing will be Tuesday at 4 to 6 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Hill Street in South Bend, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 1996. Rosary will be said at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The family asks that well wishes express their sympathy in the form of a charitable contribution to either St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Christ Child Society or the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
