Nellie E. Foster, 94, of Ward Court,
Mishawaka, died at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday in Cardinal Rehabilitation
and Health Care Center. She was born in Atwood, Ind., on May 4,
1902, having lived in Mishawaka, most of her life. Mrs. Foster
retired in 1964 from Crystal Cleaners after 20 years of service,
as a silk finisher.
On Sept. 6, 1919, in St. Joseph, Mich., as
Nellie E. Shank, she married S. Howard Jefferies, who
preceded her in death on May 9th, 1936. On October 3rd, 1956 in
Mishawaka, she married Frank Foster, who preceded her in death on
Dec. 16, 1963. Surviving are three daughters, Loretta Brown
of Mishawaka, Ind., Joanna Paldino of Granger, Ind.,
Sandra Lohman of South Bend, Ind. and one son D. J. Jefferies
of Plymouth, Ind.; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-six
great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, one
brother Donald Shank of South Bend, Ind. and one sister Leah Miller
of North Olmstead, Ohio. One son, Jimmie H. Jefferies preceded
her in death in 1976, and one daughter Lenomi Clardy also
preceded her in death in 1992.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the
Bubb Funeral Chapel North, where friends may call from 2 p.m. to
4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Fairview
Cemetery. She was a member of the Gospel Center Church. Preferred
memorials are to be made to the church.
