Sister Philomena, CSC, an instructor if music at St. Mary’s academy, died Sunday morning at 5 o’clock after three years’ illness with tuberculosis. Her worldly name was Katherine Franz. She is survived by a sister, Sister Evelyn, a teacher in Texas, and her father, who lives in Baltimore, Md.

Sister Philomena was born in Baltimore Feb. 11, 1887. She entered St. Mary’s academy eight years ago, where she received all her training. One year ago she took the vows of sisterhood. Since at St. Mary’s she has been an assistant teacher of music.

The funeral services were held this afternoon at 5 o’clock from St. Mary’s chapel, Rev. Father Hagerty officiating. Internment was in the community cemetery.
