MISHAWAKA - Esther E. Fries, 99, of
Indiana Avenue, died at 8:32 a.m. Sunday in Meridian Nursing
Center-Cardinal, South Bend. Mrs. Fries was a retired licensed
practical nurse. She was born Aug. 19, 1894, in Allison, Iowa,
and lived in Mishawaka most of her life.
On Oct. 23, 1922, in Mishawaka, as Esther E.
Hayenga, she married Herman G. Fries. He died Jan. 11,
1950. She is survived by a son, William B. of Mesa, Ariz.; three
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was a member of
First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were held today in
Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. Burial will follow. Bubb Funeral
Chapel North, 3910 N. Main St., was in charge of arrangements.
