Clara M. Funston

MISHAWAKA - Clara M. Funston, 98, of Logan Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at 10:47 a.m. on Friday, June 5th, in her residence.

 

Mrs. Funston was born on Jan. 29, 1900, in Mishawaka.

 

As Clara De Cocker, she married Harry Honey, who preceded her in death in 1936. She was also preceded in death by her second husband, Gilford Funston on April 2, 1985; a son, John Funston on Nov. 17, 1988; and by a daughter-in-law, Charlotte Funston in 1997.

 

Mrs. Funston is survived by a granddaughter, Lisa (Jim) Mahoney of Marietta, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Ashlee, John and Amy Mahoney, all of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Antoinette Monshein of Highland, Ind.; three nieces, Beverly Nipper of St. Johns, Ind., Karen McCarthy of Lowell, Ind., and Sharon Swingendorf of South Bend, Ind; and by two nephews, Don De Cocker of Mishawaka and Tom De Cocker of South Bend.

 

Mrs. Funston was employed by the former Uniroyal in Mishawaka for 38 years, from where she retired. She was a member of Bendix Retirees and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka.

 

Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 8th, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert Yast officiating. Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.

 

Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday in the funeral home.
