Jan. 26, 1925 - Feb. 14, 2003

Dean Furtenbaugh, age 78, of 290 South Maple Street, Marcellus, MI, passed away Friday evening, February 14, 2003, in Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI.

He was born January 26, 1925, in Marcellus the son of J. Bert and Nellie E. (Bender) Furtenbaugh. On November 2, 1946, in Marcellus he married Lucille Gebhard who survives.

Dean was lifelong resident of Marcellus and formerly was employed at Continental Can Company in Three Rivers, MI. He was a retired member of the Marcellus Fire Department.

Surviving besides his wife, Lucille are one daughter, Tami (Steve) Congdon of Marcellus; one grandson, David Dean Congdon; one sister, Arlene (Lewis) Willsea of Gobles, MI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, one sister, Betty Lockwood, and one brother, Robert Furtenbaugh.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2003, in the Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus with Rev. Melodye Surgeon Rider, pastor of the Marcellus United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Marcellus Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Marcellus Fire & Ambulance Services.
