Alexander S. Gadacz

7/13/1920 – 10/11/1980

 

Alexander Stanley Gadacz, 78, of South Brookfield Street, South Bend IN, died at 5:48am on Sunday, October 11, in St Joseph’s Medical Center.

 

Mr. Gadacz was born on July 13, 1920, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.  He was the son of Stanislaus and Ksawera (Kwilinski) Gadacz, who preceded him in death.  On October 15, 1962, in Cassopolis MI, he married Betty J. Billingsley, who preceded him in death on August 1, 1998.  He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Charles Mark Eby, who died in 1966; and by two brothers, Phillip and Bernard Gadacz.

 

Mr. Gadacz was an employee of the former Studebaker Corporation, and retired from Pepsi after 30 years of service.

 

Mr. Gadacz is survived by four daughters, Anne K. (Clarence C.) Nelson, Susan Lynne Eby, Rebecca Jo Eby and Dawn Elizabeth Gragg, all of South Bend; four grandchildren, Joseph Michael (Sherry) Nate of Mishawaka, Jennifer Michelle Eby of South Bend, Christopher Alan Smith of Los Angeles CA and Jean Elizabeth Gragg of South Bend ; and by a great granddaughter, Ashley Marie Nate of Mishawaka.

 

Mr. Gadacz was a Navy and United States Marine Corps veteran of WW II.  He was a member of American Legion Pulaski Post 357, the Bowlers Country Club, St Joseph Young Men’s Society and Teamsters Local 364.

 

There will be no visitation or services.  Cremation will take place.  St Joseph Funeral Homes, 824 S Mayflower Road, are handling arrangements.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
