Kate Gamble

June 10, 1903 - Jan. 4, 1999

SOUTH BEND - Mrs. Kate Gamble, 95, of 1361 E. Ireland Road, passed away after an extended illness at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, in her residence.

She was born on June 10, 1903, in Christian County, Ky. Mrs. Gamble resided in the Michiana area since 1942, coming from Kentucky.

On Feb. 4, 1923, as Kate Johnson, she married Omer B. Gamble, who preceded her in death in 1968.

Mrs. Gamble is survived by two daughters, Margaret O. Shoemaker and V. Gwendolyn Heynssens of South Bend. She is also survived by four loving grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Visitation hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7, in the Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home, located at W. Ireland Road/Indiana 23, South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8th, in the funeral home, with Dr. Bud Steadman officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.

The family request that all memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph County Hospice or to the charity of donor's choice. Kate was a member of the Peoples Church-South Bend.

The Hanley & Sons ''Southwest Chapel'' Funeral Home handled services and extend heartfelt sympathy to the family of Mrs. Gamble.
