SOUTH BEND - Florence L. Gardner, 83, of East Calvert Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, in the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Florence was the daughter of Albert and Ida Maier, both preceded her in death, along with a brother, Kenneth Maier, and by a sister, Leona Brown.

On Feb. 1, 1936, in South Bend, Florence L. Maier married Richard H. Gardner, who also preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1964. Florence was born in Bremen, Ind., on June 10, 1915, and was a lifelong area resident. She retired in 1976 from Ziker Cleaners where she was employed as a clerk. She was a member of the Deer Run Church of Christ and the Professional Business Women's Association.

She is survived by three sons, John C. (Diana) Gardner of Mishawaka, Ind., Thomas R. (Donna) Gardner of Lafayette, Ind., and Alan D. (Lois) Gardner of Seattle, Wash; and by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
