Martin A. Garrett

June 17, 1892April 15, 1963

 

Martin A. Garrett, 70, Rt 2, New Carlisle, died at 3am today in his home after an illness of three years.

 

He was born on June 17, 1892, in Walkerton and had lived in New Carlisle for 30 years, moving there from South Bend.  On August 27, 1934, in Plymouth he married Martha McCorkel, who survives.  He was a farmer and an ordained minister of the Christ Unity Science Church of Gary.  He was a WW I veteran.  Also surviving are two sons, Robert of Mishawaka and Martin A Jr of Danville IL; a stepson, Harry Sears, South Bend; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Garrett of South Bend and John Garret of Mishawaka; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Gielker of Point Pleasant WV and Mrs. Ilo Royce of Miami FL. 

 

Services will be at 2pm Wednesday in the H. C. Amen and Son Funeral Home, New Carlisle.  Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend.
