Services for Cyril F. “Cy” Gassensmith, 87, of 1703 Churchill Drive, who died at 9 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Anthony de Pauda Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in McGann Funeral Home, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday. A combined rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today by the parish and the Knights of Columbus Santa Maria Council 553, of which he was a member. He was also a member of UAW Bendix Local 9, St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Holy Name Society of the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or to to St. Anthony de Pauda Church.

 

He was an employee of Bendix Aviation for 30 years. He retired on Jan. 14, 1966. He was born July 2, 1901 in Odell, Ill. On. Jan. 15, 1925, in Chicago, he married Betty W. White. She survives with a daughter, Mercedes Gassensmith of South Bend; two grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and two sisters, Blanche Pellouchoud of Joliet, Ill. and Sister Mary Frederick of Springfield, Ill.
