Mrs. Edna M. Gassensmith, 88, 15347 Montecito, Granger, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Healthwin Hospital after an extended illness. Born March 16, 1890 in South Bend, she was a homemaker and a lifetime resident.

 

On June 2, 1923, she married Raymond J. Gassensmith who died Nov. 23, 1970. Surviving are five daughters. Mrs. Marian Sharpe of Granger, Mrs. Mary Ellen Laurita, Mrs Norberta Shealy and Mrs. Sally Zirille, all of Mishawaka and Mrs. Frances Reinert of Munster, Ind.; 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where she was a member. Her cousin, Rev. Joseph Murphy, CSC, will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Home where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today.
