Brother Louis Gazague CSC, 88, of Holy Cross Brothers Center, died Thursday morning at 3:30 a.m. in Dujarie House Infirmary, Holy Cross College. He had been a teacher for 63 years before retirement in 1969, and was a former teacher at St. Joseph High School, South Bend. He was born March 30, 1885 in Paris, coming to South Bend in 1903 from France. In August 1904 he made his first profession of vows. He received a degree in music from the University of Notre Dame in 1951. He had taught at schools in Wisconsin, Texas, Oregon and Ohio, and spent 19 years as a missionary in India.

 

A wake service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Brothers Center. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Brothers Center Chapel, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery at the Brothers Center.
