Violet M. Geabler, 82, of Hamilton Grove Nursing Home, New Carlisle, Ind., formerly of Crumstown Highway, South Bend, Ind., died at 12:40 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. She was born on Oct. 18, 1915, in Bremen, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident. She retired from Memorial Hospital where she worked in the dietary department. She was also an employee of the former Smith's Cafeteria in South Bend.

 

She was married on Jan. 1, 1933, in South Bend, as Violet Sumpter, to Stanley Geabler, who preceded her in death on March 23, 1995. She is survived by a daughter, Arlene (Rolland) Schafer of Bremen; two grandchildren, Ronda Schafer of Chicago, Ill., and Ryan (Jennifer) Schafer of Bremen; and by two brothers, Gerald Sumpter and Marvin Sumpter, both of Bremen.

 

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. Services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the St. Joseph Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Bremen Cemetery.
