Maxine R. Geisel, 72, of E. Jefferson Square, South Bend, passed away at 10:40 P.M. on Friday, February 2, 2001 in Regency Place, South Bend. Maxine was born on May 24, 1928 in Mishawaka to the late John and Rose (Szymankowski) Henning.

On September 22, 1945 in St. Monica Church, Mishawaka, Maxine married Joseph B. Geisel. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1986. Also preceding her in death was a sister, Eleanor Burkhart. Surviving are a daughter, Irene Gossett of Pendleton, South Carolina, five sons, Dennis of Anaheim, California, Greg of N. Palm, Florida, Michael and Larry of Mishawaka, and Kevin of Osceola, 23 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

Maxine had worked several years at UniRoyal in Mishawaka. She also was a beautician for many years. Recently she had been attending the Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. today, February 5 in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, February 6 in the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Granger with Rev. Rob Neal officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
