Elizabeth R. "Betty" Germano, 93, passed away after a long illness on May 2, 2006, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center.

 

Betty was born on December 12, 1912, in Platti, Regio Calabria, Italy, to Mary (Tripepi) and Michael Portolese. She came to America with her parents when she was six months old.

 

As Elizabeth Portolese, she married Frank Germano in Saint Monica's Catholic Church in Mishawaka on May 12, 1929. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, her parents, and her two sisters, Concetta Cosenza and Eugenia Trimboli.

 

Betty is survived by a daughter, Nancy. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were very dear to her.

 

Betty was a past member, council member and vice president of the DeAmici's Women's Club. She was a member of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and for many years volunteered as a Pink Lady in the Gift Shop. She was a member of St. Monica Church and a member of the Rosary Society.

 

Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. today, May 5th, in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:45 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to services in the church.

 

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., with Fr. Jeffery Largent officiating.

 

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. (nf)
