Julius Gilbert

March 24, 1894November 3, 1957

 

Julius Gilbert, of 1301 E. Altgeld St., died at 5:30am Sunday in St Joseph Hospital, Mishawaka, after an illness of two weeks.

 

He was born in South Bend March 24, 1894, and lived his life in the South Bend-Mishawaka area being associated with M. Gilbert & Sons for 35 years.  IN 1921 he married Miss Jennie Neucin of Louisville KY.  Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Phillip Schiff, of South bend, Mrs Marvin Crell of Fort Wayne and Miss Maureen Gilbert of South Bend; three grandchildren; three brothers, Oscar, Paul & Max Gilbert; and two sisters, Mrs. Jacob Levy and Mrs. Ben Cohen, all of South Bend.

 

Services were to be held today in the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home with Robbi Maurice Parzen, of Sinai Synagogue and Rev. Jacob S. Bergman, of Sons of Israel Synagogue, officiating.  Burial was to be in Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, Mishawaka.  He was a veteran of WW I and a charter member of Post 318, Jewish War Veterans.

 

Pallbearers were to be Stanley Gilbert, Melvin Levy, Mort Linder, Reuben Dounn, Louis Cohen and Ira Frank.
