Edward L. Gill, Sr.

   Edward L. Gill, Sr., 76, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, October 7, in St. Joseph Community Hospital.

   He was born in Mishawaka, Ind., on February 15, 1924, and had lived in this area all of his life.

   Edward retired as a truck driver in 1986 after thirty years of service. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.

   He married the former Hope M. Housand in Mishawaka, on June 6, 1942, she survives. He is also survived by his daughter Kathy M. Powers of Mishawaka; his sons Edward L. (Carol) Gill, jr., of Mishawaka, and James W. (Lori) Gill of Burelson, Texas; nine grandchildren, Troy P. (Becky) Gill, Amy M. (Clint) McCall, James A. (Jessica) Gill, Angela L. (Christopher) Hamm, Cory, A. Sevy, Lee A. Gill, Carissa A. Gill; and by five great grandchildren, Benjamin H. Gill, Alexander S. Milbourn, Selena Gill, Samuel P. Gill, and Cole A. Sealy.

   Edward was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Frances H. (Kincaide) Gill; and by several sisters and brothers.

   Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, October 9, in Bubb Funeral Chapel North 3010 N. Main St. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with Rev. Daniel Streufert officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.

   His life was dedicated to his family. His love was the wind beneath our wings.

   God saw you getting weary,

   He did what He thought best,

   He put His arms around you

   And said "come and rest."

   He opened up his garden gate on that

   Heartbreaking day, and with His arms around you,

   you gently slipped away. It broke our hearts to

   lose you, you did not go alone, a part

  of us went with you the day God called you home.
